    Assignment 28-1 should be completed and turned in at this time.

    Students should Ch 828-2, pages 916-924 before coming to class. They should be ready to discuss the major protests of the 1960’s and especially the work of Martin Luther King Jr. Assignment 28-2 will be due on Tuesday.

    April 17, 2012, Tuesday

    Assignment 28-1 should be completed and is due at this time.

    Students should Ch 828-2, pages 916-924 before coming to class. They should be ready to discuss the major protests of the 1960’s and especially the work of Martin Luther King Jr. Assignment 28-2 will be assigned and will be due at the next class period.

    April 18, 2012, 1st and 3rd hour, Wednesday

    April 19, 2012, 2nd hour Thursday

    Assignment 28-2 should be completed and is due at this time. Today the class will look at the video of the highlights of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream Speech. After watching the video, the student shall have the opportunity to Google and find a text of the speech and to write a reaction to what the student saw heard and felt about the power and significance of what they heard. Students should use their time to compose an essay. This assignment will be due in completed form at the beginning of class on Friday.

    April 20, 2012, 1st, 2nd and 3rd hour. Friday.

    Assignment 28-3 should be completed and is due at this time. Students should read Ch 28-3 pages 925-930 before coming to class. Be ready to discuss voter registration, the 24th Amendment, Freedom Summer, The Selma March and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Students are encouraged to find the movies, “Mississippi Burning,” or “To Kill A Mockingbird,” or “A Time to Kill,” or the recent film, “The Help,” as representative of the culture and history of that period. Assignment 28-4 will be assigned and is due on the following Monday.
