    • Monday-Finish ALL discussion associated with goals 10 and 11. Work time on problems, questions if time. Model how to solve the problems assigned within the discussion. Below is what was sent to students on Wednesday, February 27 regarding homework for last week (and weekend):
      • Complete the pogil activity related to reaction types on your own (or with a friend) between now and Monday. I will show the answers to those that have done so Monday morning the first 5 or so minutes of class. No work...no show until you have done so...you know the rules with this.
      • You need to watch the video on the activity series entitled ActivitySeries.mov (it is one that I made under the solubility rules) AND take notes over that video as it relates to how to use the series. I have attached the one that you will be able to use on the exam to this email.
      • You should be able to answer up through question #52 on the assignment list from the UA (that list said...Problems/questions: p. 347 # 43, 45, 47, 48, 49, 51a, 52, 54, and 55. P, 348 #58, 59 a&b, 60, and 64). Some of them may be a bit difficult BUT there are enough videos, etc. that will allow you to get through these questions.
      • I MUST have the MgO synthesis lab on Monday, March 4 at the beginning of class.

Read section 2.4 and take notes in science notebook over that section (they may have to do that outside of class) on goal #11...should be review. Labs dealing with goals 9, 12-15 which include Chemical and physical changes lab and separating mixtures activity. If time we will also do the observing a chemical reaction lab.

    • Tuesday-Exam over Unit 1. Copy and paste the Chapter 2 Unit Analysis from DropBox into student folders. The students will go to a link through which they will answer questions dealing with goal #2 (Intensive versus extensive properties) from the unit analysis. They will use this during class Wednesday.
    • Wednesday- The students will use the information they constructed from the homework to compare answers to those questions at the halfway portion of the period. The students will work in their lab groups for this activity. Classification of Matter POGIL will take place during the second half of class. .The students are then to read sections 2.1 and 2.2 and take notes in their science notebooks (can use stickies) for discussion on Friday. Hand out FLM practice sheet that the students can also work on. This will be due at the end of the unit. The students will also want to be aware of all chapter 2 assignments from the teacher wiki. Homework for Friday: download Khan Academy film on the states of matter from the chapter 2 teacher wiki and answer the questions as directed in the UA.
